John McCain
From what I have learned (by going on the Internet) about McCain is that, if I were old enough, I would vote for Senator John McCain. He stands for almost everything I’m looking for in a president. For instance, he’s against gun control, believing that people should be allowed to have weapons hidden or not but also supports the federal laws and systems, like the three day waiting time, that people need to go through to get a firearm. He supports allowing oil corporations to drill for oil in US coastal waters to eliminate dependency on foreign oil, and supports lowering gas prices, possibly by lowering taxes on the gasoline companies. He has called for tax incentives and a research prize to encourage development of “zero-emission” cars, which would help stop global warming. He also supports lowering federal spending, so that the taxes on everyday people, like you and me, will go down. A strong supporter of the war in Iraq and the “Surge” And he voted to allow abortion if the pregnancy is a result of rape or other crime where the woman was endangered. He supports tougher regulations to be put on emission requirements.
I do agree with him on a lot of things but there are some things that I don’t agree with as much. For example, he opposes gay marriage (I’m not gay, but I don’t think we have any right to tell people who they can or can not marry), but says that it’s a matter for the states to handle, meaning that he believes that it should be up to the individual states to decide whether or not to allow gay marriage. He called for 45 new nuclear power plants to be built, yes they give off almost no pollution but I don’t like the idea of all that radioactive waste. He also supports eliminating all subsidies for alternate energy sources. But all ‘n all, I think he’ll be a president who will make this country as great as it ever was. Ps. if you want to learn about him I suggest going on Google or Yahoo and type in the search box John McCain’s stand on today’s issues, that’s how I got my information.
